About Our Auditions
Spinning Tree Theatre is a youth performing arts organization where young artists — with and without disabilities — collaborate with professional artists to create, rehearse, and perform theatre. Our productions are cast primarily with young artists; select shows also include a small number of adult professional artists.
We aim to make every audition welcoming and accessible. If you require an accommodation, please let us know.
Join our Audition Newsletter for announcements, workshops, and resources.
2026–27 Season Audition Dates
Sunday, August 9, 2026 | 1:00–3:00 PM
Monday, August 10, 2026 | 5:00–7:00 PM
📍 Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center By appointment only
Each young artist auditions once for consideration across the full season.
Audition Preparation
-
A musical theatre selection (16–32 measures, ~1 minute) from, or in the style of, one of this season's productions.
-
Auditioning for Romeo and Juliet? Also prepare a memorized monologue (1 minute or less) from Romeo and Juliet, or a classical or contemporary piece in a similar tone/register. If preparing a memorized monologue isn't accessible for you, contact us in advance — we're glad to arrange an alternative, such as a provided script excerpt to read at the audition.
An accompanist is provided — bring clearly marked sheet music in the correct key. Recorded accompaniment and a cappella are not permitted.
